NHS Treatments
We provide a full range of NHS treatments in our practice or refer appropriately where specialist treatment is required.The charges for NHS treatments are set by Practitioner Services and are same for every NHS dentist in Scotland. Dental examination is FREE of charge for everyone.
Following a dental examination, your dentist will advise you of the treatment you require and the likely cost.We will also provide an itemised account, if requested.
NHS treatment is free for:
- Everyone aged under 26;
- Pregnant women and nursing mothers, until the baby is 12 months old;
- Those with certificated exemption from payment because of income
NHS treatment will be provided where clinically necessary to maintain reasonable oral health. Not all treatments are available on the NHS. Cosmetic treatments are not available, for example, ‘white fillings’ on back teeth or a tooth coloured crown on a back tooth. Dental Implants and teeth whitening are also not available on the NHS. We do not provide scale and polish under NHS unless it is clinically indicated.
Your dentist will be able to explain what treatment is and is not allowed on the NHS.

Membership Plans with Lothian Independant Practitioners
We offer two types of Membership Payment Plans
Membership ensures you have access to excellent quality dental care in a simple and flexible way to pay and will encourage you to visit us regularly. This will help you achieve healthier gums, reduce tooth decay and early diagnosis of problems with less complex and less expensive treatment.
1. Maintenance Plan A (£23.39)or Plan B(£32.93)
- Two Private Examinations and two Dental Hygiene visits for Plan A or four Dental hygiene visits for Plan B per year and routine x-rays
- 10% Discount on most Private treatments and Oral Hygiene products
- Priority Appointments
- Dental Emergency Assistance Out of hours or when away from home
2. Full Care Plans: from £25 per month
- All routine Private Dental treatments(excluding laboratory costs, Dental Implants and Orthodontic treatments)
- Dental Hygiene visits x2
- Priority Appointments
- Dental Emergency Assistance out of hours or when away from home
- Monthly premium is on a banding based on existing Oral health. Band A is £25, Band B is £38.70, Band C is £49.22, Band D is £60.71 and Band E is £73.38
Children's plan and Family discounts are also available on the above plans.
